So a little while back I had held an Instagram contest to find some inspirational, fashion-inspired teens. I enjoyed going through all of the submissions, thank you to all that entered!! I have been so excited to share the winner with you all and it’s finally time!! Meet Logan! There’s no question that Logan is all over fashion and I LOVED our session together! It’s rare that I get to photograph the boys so talking fashion and magazines and photographers and music and concluding with a whole pile of images… kind of how I would describe a perfect session! I could ramble on for way too long about the fun we had and how inspirational this guy is. I kind of love this kid. And I plan on staying in  touch with him for a very long time,  so trust me- I’ll be rambling for many years to come as he’s out conquering the fashion scene.  So without further delay:

“I guess my hidden talent would be, memorizing every big name fashion labels’ collections, so that when I look at photo-spreads or red carpets, I know what look that model is in or what dress that person is wearing, without being told who the label is. It also is cool because I can see whats going to be a huge trend this or next season, even though I don’t like me, my own style, giving in to trends. Fashion is what you make it.”

“Everything inspires me, honestly. To be creative, you have to draw inspiration from literally anywhere. People inspire me, as well cities, art, mythology, the 20’s, history, movies, and literature. Culture is also a huge influence. I draw a lot of inspiration from movies like The Great Gatsby, Marie Antoinette, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Really everything inspires me. I can come up with an idea for a sketch or an outfit by just looking at an object or thinking of a concept. ““The person I look up to most is my stepmom, Valerie. No one has ever believed in my talent, my dreams, and myself more than my stepmom. She has taught me so much, and she has helped me get to where I am now and where I will be going. She is my guidance and my inspiration. “

“After high school, I plan on studying fashion design at Central Saint Martins in London, UK. I want to be a fashion director for a fashion magazine like W or Vogue, or if I decide later on I want to be a designer, I would want to be a fashion designer for a label like Givenchy or Prada. When I graduate college, my plan is to move to New York City and see where I go, where fashion will take me. The world is full of endless opportunities I can do anything. Anything is possible. I think being able to do what I love, being able to do fashion, be in the industry, is what excites me most about my future.”

“I hope when people look at me, they see happiness, confidence, and passion and are inspired by it. I am confident in who I am and I am confident overall. I hope people see this and have courage to be themselves and to be happy and confident. I hope people see my passion and feel like they can do anything and know that their dreams are valid.”

“I was so excited to be photographed by Merritt. I was absolutely thrilled to meet her. She is incredibly brilliant and talented and I felt so comfortable and electrified shooting with her. I was blown away at the photos. The entire experience was beyond anything and I am so glad and honored to have done it. I love Merritt and her talent. Her work is extraordinary. ” – LOGAN

Step into my time machine. You are sitting on your couch & you flip the channel with your remote and something… someone grabs your eye. You stop browsing and sit up a little straighter.  She’s gorgeous! Her dimples! Her eyes!  And you remember back to 2014 when you saw her senior portraits up on the MLP blog. It’s going to  happen. Mark my word.

When I decided to go into business for myself I had started with an idea that I would primarily shoot babies, kid, & families. I hadn’t experienced anything outside of these genres, making it difficult to envision loving anything more. Maybe it’s because of the fun I had with Tara, a whole new world opened up to my business. I LOVE working with seniors. And having Tara as my senior rep this year was one of the best decisions I have made.
